The Wilby Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight defeat. They were dealt a 54-26 defeat at the hands of Torrington. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wilby in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now lost nine in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Torrington to victory, but perhaps none more so than O'Marra Annabel, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Annabel has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lilah Boulli, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three blocks.
Wilby dropped their record down to 2-13 with that defeat, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.7 points per game. As for Torrington, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilby won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. As for Torrington, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Connecticut (Watertown is ranked 57th, while the Raiders are ranked 60th).
