Tahlequah won against Will Rogers College last Friday with 49 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. The Tigers breezed past the Nathan Hale Rangers to the tune of 49-20. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Rangers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Tahlequah had a senior duo take command as Jake Girty gained 136 total yards and three touchdowns and Xaxton Carshall rushed for 103 yards and one touchdown. Those 103 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Carshall. Another player making a difference was Michael Torkelson, who gained 72 total yards and a touchdown.
Tahlequah was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 260 rushing yards. They are 4-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Tahlequah didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Synjin Sampson, Torkelson, and Korbin Dietz picked up one apiece.
Despite the loss, Nathan Hale still got an impressive performance from Jordan Deroin, who rushed for 135 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.9 yards per carry, and also threw for 167 yards and one touchdown.
The win got Tahlequah back to even at 5-5. As for Nathan Hale, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
