Baseball Game Preview: Waccamaw Warriors vs. Loris Lions

For the second straight game, Waccamaw will face off against Loris. The Warriors will venture away from home to face off against the Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

While Waccamaw's victory against Loris wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Warriors came out on top against the Lions on Monday by a score of 7-6 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won three in a row.

Tyson Strickland tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Waccamaw is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nathaniel Mabus, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Waccamaw is undefeated when Mabus posts two or more runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Corrin Green was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base.

This is the second loss in a row for Loris and nudges their season record down to 10-6. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Waccamaw, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Waccamaw has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Loris struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts.
