Basketball Recap: KIPP College Prep Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

There's no place like home for KIPP College Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They walked away with a 61-50 win over the DC International Dragons on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Panthers also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2020.

KIPP College Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Clifton Gardner led the charge by going 6 for 10 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds. Elijah Butts was another key player, going 5 of 12 on his way to 18 points and seven boards.

KIPP College Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as DC International only posted seven assists.

DC International lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Gavin Moore, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 18 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jhalil Route, who posted 13 points and three steals.

KIPP College Prep pushed their record up to 5-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for DC International, they moved to 5-7 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

KIPP College Prep will venture away from home to take on Mt. Hebron at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Hebron will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something KIPP College Prep surely won't give up without a fight. As for DC International, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bard at 1:45 p.m. on January 1, 2025. DC International is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.6 points per game this season.
