The Cary-Grove Trojans will venture away from home to take on the Central Rockets at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Cary-Grove will be strutting in after a win while Central will be coming in after a loss.
On Thursday, Cary-Grove needed a bit of extra time to put away Dundee-Crown. They put the hurt on the Chargers with a sharp 9-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.
Paityn Ahlquist was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over eight innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Ahlquist was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grace Kaiser, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Osadzinski, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Cary-Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dundee-Crown only managed seven hits.
Meanwhile, Central came up short against Huntley on Thursday, falling 9-2.
Mei Shirokawa made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played.
Cary-Grove's record now sits at 5-9. As for Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.
Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cary-Grove hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .334. It's a different story for Central, though, as they've only averaged .241. Will they be able to contain Cary-Grove's hitters?
Cary-Grove couldn't quite get it done against Central in their previous matchup on April 7th as they fell 6-3. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
