Pelham has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge The Bacon County Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Pelham pushed their score all the way to 35 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 40-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Irwin County.
Despite their loss, Pelham saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Nathaniel Walker, who rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown, was perhaps the best of all.
Meanwhile, Bacon County got themselves on the board against Johnson County two weeks ago, but Johnson County never followed suit. They walked away with a 9-0 win over the Trojans. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Bacon County.
Bacon County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aki Brown, who rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown on only six carries. Bacon County also got a significant boost from Rasheed Slade, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 101 yards.
Bacon County's win bumped their season record to 4-2 while Pelham's defeat dropped theirs to 3-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Pelham has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 255.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Bacon County struggles in that department as they've been even better at 272.5 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Pelham took their victory against Bacon County in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 47-24. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pelham since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
