The Socorro Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 51-41 to Eastlake. Socorro was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Eastlake apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Socorro lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jordan Dominguez. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kris Fang, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
Aaron Vargas continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Eastlake, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Lucas Brandon was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
Socorro's defeat was their seventh straight at home, which bumped their record down to 8-11. As for Eastlake, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-12 record this season.
Socorro will head out on the road to square off against Pebble Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pebble Hills presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Socorro in Texas (Pebble Hills is ranked 309th, while Socorro is ranked 801st). As for Eastlake, they will be playing at home against Montwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Montwood and Eastlake are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads.
