The Alcester-Hudson Cubs were the 42-38 winner over the Gayville-Volin Raiders when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Alcester-Hudson took a 45-29 bruising from Gayville-Volin on Thursday.
Gayville-Volin's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylor Hoxeng, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Maia Achen, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Alcester-Hudson's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Gayville-Volin, they pushed their record up to 1-0 with that win, which was their third straight at home dating back to last season.
Alcester-Hudson will take on Menno at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Menno focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Thursday. As for Gayville-Volin, they will head out on the road to face off against Wausa at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Wausa focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Saturday.
