The Lafayette County Huskers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Wellington-Napoleon by a score of 31-28. Lafayette County lost against Wellington-Napoleon in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 28-20 score last time.
Wellington-Napoleon's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isabelle Miller, who scored nine points. Miller has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaylin Ellensohn, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.
Lafayette County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Wellington-Napoleon, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lafayette County will take on Knob Noster at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wellington-Napoleon, they will head out on the road to face off against Kingsville at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Kingsville has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8.
