The Philip Scotties won the last time they faced the Newell Irrigators, and things went their way on Saturday too. Philip came out on top against Newell by a score of 58-49. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Philip.
Philip found their leader in underclassman Drew Terkildsen, who scored 17 points along with six assists and five steals. Terkildsen is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Quinn Terkildsen, who scored six points along with four steals.
Philip now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Newell, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Philip will face off against Kadoka at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Newell, Newell and Hill City will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hill City presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Newell in South Dakota (Hill City is ranked 22nd, while Newell is ranked 97th).
