Brunswick hasn't had much luck against Catoctin recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Railroaders will challenge the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Brunswick sitting on three straight wins and Catoctin on 11.
Brunswick not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 26th (when they won 18-3). They blew past Fort Hill 13-2. The result was nothing new for the Railroaders, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Juliette Bel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits. Bel was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Taylor Benson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Sienna Russo was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Catoctin took on Liberty on Tuesday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 16-9 margin over the Lions. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by seven runs or more this season.
Catoctin let Bralyn West and Madison Ohler run wild. West fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 5-for-5, while Ohler fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave Ohler a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madison Ott, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Catoctin lost a few balls and finished the game with six home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Catoctin pushed their record up to 12-1-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Brunswick, their record is now 8-4.
Brunswick's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Railroaders have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Catoctin, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Brunswick continue to outrun the ball?
Brunswick suffered a grim 18-0 defeat to Catoctin when the teams last played on April 1st. Can the Railroaders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
