Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Bay'shanna Drake and Janiyah Middlebrook Lead Meadowdale to Victory

Meadowdale had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They strolled past the Stivers School for the Arts Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 48-31. This was a revenge game for the Lions: when they faced off against the Tigers back in December of 2024, they had to take a 52-44 loss.

Meadowdale was led to victory by Janiyah Middlebrook and Bay'Shanna Drake. Middlebrook dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards, while Drake posted 18 points and three steals. Middlebrook has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kyrie Robinson, who scored two points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Meadowdale smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive games.

Meadowdale is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. As for Stivers School for the Arts, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-9.

Meadowdale didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 63-28 win against Belmont on the 27th. As for Stivers School for the Arts, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-24 defeat against Northridge on the 25th.
