Providence Grove hasn't had much luck against Trinity recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Providence Grove Patriots will head out to face off against the Trinity Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Providence Grove is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season.
Providence Grove is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Leadership Academy on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Providence Grove lost 70-48 to Leadership Academy. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 402nd, while the Falcons are ranked 190th).

The losing side was boosted by Will Dabbs, who posted 20 points and five steals. The contest was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Stephen Beeson, who had eight points and 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Providence Grove smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Trinity was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 61-60 heartbreaker at the hands of Southwestern Randolph.
Providence Grove will need focus on slowing down Walker Parrish, one of several Trinity players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 22 points. Parrish continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nazir Staton, who earned 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Providence Grove's record now sits at 5-7. As for Trinity, their record now sits at 3-11.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Providence Grove has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29 boards per game. However, it's not like Trinity struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.3 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Providence Grove was taken down by Trinity 79-51 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Providence Grove, Dominic Payne (who put up 36 points in addition to eight assists and seven boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
