The Euclid Panthers pushed their score all the way to 68 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 77-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cleveland Heights. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (57), Euclid still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Euclid still got an impressive performance from Thai Duncan, who scored 25 points. Duncan is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last nine games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ari Jones, who scored eight points.
This is the second loss in a row for Euclid and nudges their season record down to 3-9. As for Cleveland Heights, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Euclid will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Brunswick at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Brunswick presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Euclid in Ohio (Brunswick is ranked 32nd, while Euclid is ranked 387th). As for Cleveland Heights, they will head out on the road to face off against St. Vincent-St. Mary at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for St. Vincent-St. Mary: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Cleveland Heights has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
