The P.K. Yonge Blue Wave will head out on the road to challenge the Palatka Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
P.K. Yonge made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Gainesville, but they still couldn't quite topple them. P.K. Yonge blew past Gainesville 8-1 on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Blue Wave as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Sam DePaul looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February.

On the hitting side, Darius Medley was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for P.K. Yonge: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-5 otherwise. Matt Knott also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
P.K. Yonge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Palatka made sure to put some runs up on the board against Eastside on Tuesday. Palatka never let Eastside get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won seven in a row.
Tristin Bahena looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Mason Malloy was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Luke Oberman, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
P.K. Yonge's record now sits at 8-6. As for Palatka, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
P.K. Yonge might still be hurting after the 11-4 loss they got from Palatka in their previous matchup back in February. Can P.K. Yonge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
