Softball Recap: East Jackson Starts Season with Win Against Concord

East Jackson gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Concord Yellowjackets. For the Trojans, this counts as revenge for the 15-5 win the Yellowjackets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Kilah Boatright spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, East Jackson let Mckenna Worthing and Rayann Reeser run wild. Worthing scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Reeser scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Khloee Gettings was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Jackson is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Springport at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Concord, they will take on Addison at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
