Prairie hasn't had much luck against Caliche recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Mustangs are taking a road trip to face off against the Buffaloes at 2:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Caliche will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Prairie extended their winning streak to six on Monday. The Mustangs put the hurt on Holyoke with a sharp 19-9 victory. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by exactly ten runs.

The team relied heavily on Brennon Bringelson, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. He has become a key player for Prairie: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Carlson, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Prairie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .737. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Caliche made sure to put some runs up on the board against Peetz on Monday. The Buffaloes blew past the Bulldogs 17-10. The win was some much needed relief for the Buffaloes as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Caliche got a massive performance out of Zander Yost, who went 3-for-6 with seven stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those seven stolen bases gave Yost a new career-high. Avery Bell also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Prairie's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Caliche, their record now sits at 5-9.
Caliche's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Prairie has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Caliche, though, as they've been averaging 9.1 hits. Given Prairie's sizable advantage in that area, the Buffaloes will need to find a way to close that gap.
Prairie suffered a grim 11-2 defeat to Caliche when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
