While losing is never fun, Belmont can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while Westerville Central is ranked 32nd).
Despite the loss, Belmont still got an impressive performance from Denzell Ogle, who scored 19 points along with two steals. Ogle has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Damarion Calahan, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Belmont are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7. As for Westerville Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Belmont will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Thurgood Marshall at 7:30 p.m. As for Westerville Central, they will head out on the road to square off against New Albany at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with New Albany sitting on five straight wins and Westerville Central on three.
