4A Region II District 10 recap Nov. 7, 2012
Highland Park extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region II District 10 this week by beating Newman Smith, 58-7. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
West Mesquite moved up to 132 from 173 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Wranglers climbed the ranks as a result of besting Forney 41-7.
Raashaan Reason was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 12 carries, he ran for 92 yards as West Mesquite defeated the Trojans. Chason Virgil also contributed to the rushing game with 22 yards on the ground.
David Blough put up the best numbers through the air as Creekview beat Terrell. He finished with a total of 18 completions for 206 yards and four touchdowns. Blough's favorite target this week was Marckus Hardy, who caught seven passes for 73 yards.
Chris Maxey made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Mustangs topped the Tigers. The senior recorded one fumble.
Feagans was the best wideout in 4A Region II District 10 this week as Randy Allen's team bested Newman Smith. Feagans tallied nine receptions for 119 yards. Charles Hubbard helped Highland Park's passing attack out by catching three balls for 103 yards.
On the ground, Paul Ressa's team's Cole Brewer has rushed for 808 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Dylan Kittrell. The Creekview star has 57 catches for 612 yards.
Going into this week's game against Poteet, Mike Overton's team's Virgil needs 68 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season. So far this year, Virgil has thrown for 1932 yards with 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Wranglers take on the Pirates. At the moment, West Mesquite is in third, while Poteet is in first.
Randy Jackson's team took down North Forney 59-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
