Basketball Recap: Elkmont Drops Season-High Score on Brindlee Mountain

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Elkmont). They strolled past the Brindlee Mountain Lions with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 61-43. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Red Devils as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Elkmont got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mckenzie Doner out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Doner has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Nyla Parker, who posted seven points in addition to 16 rebounds and four steals.

Elkmont smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 31 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Brindlee Mountain's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooke West, who had 12 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoey Persle, who put up ten points and seven rebounds.

Elkmont's victory bumped their record up to 2-9. As for Brindlee Mountain, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Elkmont wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 37-36 defeat against Asbury on the 13th. As for Brindlee Mountain, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-30 loss against Whitesburg Christian Academy on the 10th.
