Wallkill is 2-8 against New Paltz since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Panthers will square off against the Huguenots at 4:15 p.m. Wallkill is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
While Wallkill's victory against Our Lady of Lourdes wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Warriors 7-6. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won four in a row.
Grace Rodriguez was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, New Paltz entered their tilt with Roosevelt on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Presidents with a sharp 16-2 victory. Considering the Huguenots have won six contests by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ella Gates spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Molly Saunders, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Morales, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and three runs.
New Paltz always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.
Wallkill's record is now 11-2. As for New Paltz, their record now sits at 8-4.
Wallkill's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Panthers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for New Paltz, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Wallkill continue to outrun the ball?
