The Covington Trojans will square off against the Riverton Parke Panthers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Covington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Covington is headed into Saturday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Seeger. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 2, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Covington got a good showing from Carson Schaeffer, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, Schaeffer gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, Davyn Green was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Covington's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't).
Meanwhile, after soaring to 25 runs the game before, Riverton Parke was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Central.
AJ Goff put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Goff was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jackson While made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Covington's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Riverton Parke, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Covington has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Riverton Parke struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Covington came out on top in a nail-biter against Riverton Parke in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
