The Alexander Cougars posted their closest win since December 5, 2023 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 48-45 victory over Paulding County. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Alexander.
Leading Alexander to victory were Rachel Porter and Isabella Italiano. Porter scored nine points along with five assists and five rebounds, while Italiano dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nimah Ibidunni, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Paulding County's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Hope Johnson, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds, and Alexus Wilson who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. Wilson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played.
Alexander's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Paulding County, they bumped their record down to 9-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing New Manchester the next time they take the court. Paulding County will head out to face New Manchester at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Alexander will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
