Greensboro Day School will be up against a hot Caldwell Academy team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Caldwell Academy was the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Gaston Day on Friday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Jack Pearman spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Neal Swindell was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Spencer McBurney, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Caldwell Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greensboro Day School). Everything went their way against GRACE Christian on Friday as Greensboro Day School made off with an 11-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bengals.
Trevor Waters made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Oliver Fisher, who scored three runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Cooper Braxton also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Caldwell Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Greensboro Day School, their record is now 3-1.
Both Caldwell Academy and Greensboro Day School just can't seem to miss. Caldwell Academy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Greensboro Day School struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
