Floyd County extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping them down to 6-10. They lost 12-4 to the Pulaski County Cougars. The Buffaloes were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 12-5.
Floyd County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Bakely, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Pulaski County, they pushed their record up to 8-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games.
On Pulaski County's side, Konner Furrow made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave Furrow a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Pulaski County is 3-1 when Furrow posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, Pulaski County let Bryce Beeler and Kaleb Sartin run wild. Beeler went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two triples, and one run, while Sartin got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Sartin is becoming a predictor of Pulaski County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 4-6 when he doesn't). Jude Garrett was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Floyd County will welcome Carroll County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cavaliers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Buffaloes' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pulaski County, they will take on Graham at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
