Peotone had lost five straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 2-11 to make it six. They fell just short of the Reed-Custer Comets by a score of 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Blue Devils have suffered against the Comets since April 20, 2022.

Tyler Leitelt was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over 4.2 innings pitched. Peotone is 2-1 when Leitelt posts eight or more strikeouts, but 0-10 otherwise. Leitelt was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Declan McMaster was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Eli Chenoweth, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
As for Reed-Custer, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-10 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.67 runs across that stretch.
Like Peotone, Reed-Custer also got a great game from a two-way player: Thomas Emery. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Emery was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Jeffrey Wolford was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Christian Mounts was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
While Peotone had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
