Basketball Game Preview: Orange Vista Coyotes vs. JW North Huskies

The Orange Vista Coyotes and the JW North Huskies will meet in a canine-themed contest at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Orange Vista's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.

Orange Vista will head into Tuesday's match hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 23-point drubbing they dealt Canyon Springs on Tuesday. Orange Vista blew past Canyon Springs 67-44. Given the Coyotes' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Cougars are ranked 526th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Orange Vista's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Henry Washington led the charge by going 5 for 8 on his way to 11 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. Washington has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Adrian Viray, who went 7 of 10 en route to 20 points.

Washington wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Orange Vista was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Canyon Springs only racked up six assists.

Meanwhile, JW North sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 49-46 victory over King on Wednesday.

JW North's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-9. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Orange Vista, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
