St. David gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They put the hurt on the Pungo Christian Academy Raiders with a sharp 36-14 victory.
Benjamin Young III was a one-man wrecking crew for St. David's as he rushed for 208 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Hutch Marshall was another key player, picking up 146 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, St. David's was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 404 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pungo Christian Academy only gained 234.
Although Pungo Christian Academy took the loss, they still got scores from Carr Eagles and Wells Eagles.
Pungo Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
St. David's will take on Lawrence Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pungo Christian Academy, they will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Mattamuskeet at 4:00 p.m. on September 6th.
