The Westminster Academy Crusaders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Northeast by a score of 66-63. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Northeast's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Derrick Cavalier led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was Cavalier's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brian Duncan, who scored 22 points.
Westminster Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Northeast, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westminster Academy will play host again and welcome False River, where tip off is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. False River comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Northeast, they will be playing at home against Destrehan at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
