While losing is never fun, New Richmond can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 664th in Ohio, while Beechwood is ranked 172nd in Kentucky).
New Richmond lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Grant Hess, who scored 23 points. The game was Hess' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Luke Wolf was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
New Richmond's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-5. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Beechwood, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Richmond's road trip will continue as they head out to face Bethel-Tate at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th. As for Beechwood, they will challenge Williamstown at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Williamstown is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
