The Smithville Seminoles lost against the Hamilton Lions back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Smithville took a 49-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hamilton.
Smithville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mary Haley Hood, who scored 18 points along with 9 rebounds and 4 steals. Halle Sargent was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Smithville now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Hamilton, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smithville's road trip will continue as they head out to face Tremont at 7:15 p.m. on December 1st. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Saige Black and Hood. As for Hamilton, they will head out on the road to face off against Hatley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Hatley is ranked 141st, while Hamilton is ranked 132nd).
