Softball Recap: Buffalo Extends Winning Streak to Three

Buffalo hadn't done well against Teague recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Buffalo blew past Teague 16-5. The result was nothing new for the Bison, who have now won seven matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

Ella Ortiz made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave her a new career-low. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Buffalo got a massive performance out of Zoe Cheek, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. What's more, Cheek posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Avery Waters, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one triple.

Buffalo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory was the third in a row for Buffalo, bringing their record up to 9-10. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Teague, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10.
