On Tuesday, Mead really took it to Lakewood for the full four quarters, racking up a 70-41 victory at home. Given Mead's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Lakewood is ranked 128th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mead's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kyler Crump led the charge by scoring 19 points along with 7 steals. Another player making a difference was Matthew Angelo, who scored 19 points along with 3 steals.
When it comes to explaining why Lakewood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Colin Giguere. Despite the final result, he scored 8 points along with 6 rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Mead and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Lakewood, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Mead will head out on the road to face off against Lewis-Palmer at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lewis-Palmer has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 260 points over their last four games. Lakewood will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Greeley Central at 3:30 p.m. on December 8th. Hopefully Greeley Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Tuesday.
