Warhill and Poquoson are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Lions are taking a road trip to square off against the Islanders at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Warhill is headed into the contest with an undefeated record on the line, something Jamestown almost spoiled on Wednesday. The Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Eagles. Those three runs were actually the fewest the Lions have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Skyler Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up ten Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.7 strikeouts per game.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ella White, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That stolen base was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Keamani Fujimoto, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Poquoson strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came out on top in a nail-biter against York, sneaking past 9-7.
Natalie Klochak tossed a big game, tossing 6.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Alyssa Laney and Brooklyn Mason did most of the damage at the plate: Laney scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Mason scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Mason is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
Poquoson hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three strikeouts batters in three consecutive games.
Poquoson pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Warhill, their record now sits at 6-0.
Poquoson's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Warhill has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .596. It's a different story for Poquoson, though, as they've only averaged .353. Will they be able to contain Warhill's hitters?
Warhill suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Poquoson when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
