After soaring high against Homer two weeks ago, Icarus fell to the ground on Friday. Emerson-Hubbard took a hard 6-24 fall against Allen. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Emerson-Hubbard of the 40-44 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head.
No one put up better numbers for Allen than senior Kyle Smith, who brought his A game into the match. He rushed for 115 yards and 3 touchdowns. In fact, with 12 tackles Smith was a force on both sides of the ball. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse senior Isaac Verzani, who racked up 10 tackles.
The loss dropped Emerson-Hubbard back to even at 1-1. The win bumped Allen's record up to 2-0.
Emerson-Hubbard will be staying on the road next week, facing off against Plainview. Allen will stay at home against Winside at 7:00 PM.
