Even though the Strawberry Crest Chargers scored an imposing 57 points on Tuesday, the Durant Cougars still came out on top. Durant strolled past Strawberry Crest with points to spare, taking the game 75-57. Given Durant's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while Strawberry Crest is ranked 691st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Durant to victory, but perhaps none more so than Wylde Correa, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. Correa hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin White, who scored 16 points along with five assists.
Durant has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for Strawberry Crest, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-19.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Durant won't have much time to rest: their next game is against King at 8:00 p.m. on January 24th. As for Strawberry Crest, Strawberry Crest and Spoto will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
