Poteau was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating Douglass. The Pirates came in at 18 in the state poll after placing at number 30 last week.
Poteau added to the longest winning streak in 4A District 4 this week by beating the Trojans, 27-20. The win marks sixth in a row for the Greg Werner's team.
The Pirates' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jace Pitchford threw for 78 and 1 touchdown and Kendrick Hardaway had 30 yards receiving. On the ground Roger Barcheers chipped in 113 yards. Jarrett Lowrimore helped Poteau's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 30 yards.
Pitchford put up the best numbers in passing as Poteau beat Douglass.
Poteau's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Pirates feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Pitchford has thrown for 1,441 yards and 22 touchdowns this season, while Lowrimore has 52 catches for 629 yards.
In 181 carries Dominic Blue has put up 901 yards this year.
The Pirates made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,136 from 1,549. The advance stemmed from a 27-20 victory over Willis Alexander's team last week.
