The Ripon Tigers will venture away from home to challenge the Portage Warriors at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Ripon will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Ripon had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Nekoosa on Thursday. The Tigers never let the Papermakers get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Addisyn Johnson made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Lily Kwakkel was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two triples, and three runs. That's the most triples she has posted since back in April of 2025. Hayden Baker was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
Ripon lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Portage fell victim to Stoughton and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 2-0. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Warriors' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
With the loss, Portage broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-7. As for Ripon, their record now sits at 14-2.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Ripon has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. However, it's not like Portage struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ripon suffered a grim 15-2 defeat to Portage when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
