This season hasn't been kind to the Creek Valley Storm, who are still winless after their eighth match. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 52-39 defeat to Minatare. Creek Valley was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Minatare apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Several Storm players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mason Timm, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds and four blocks. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Wickham, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Creek Valley bumped their record down to 0-8 with that loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Minatare, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
Creek Valley will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Sioux County at 4:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Sioux County is ranked 261st, while Creek Valley is ranked 279th). As for Minatare, they will head out on the road to face off against Garden County at 6:31 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Garden County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Thursday.
