The Seymour Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Woodland Regional Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Seymour's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven contests.
Seymour scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. Everything went their way against Oxford as Seymour made off with a 80-54 win. Seymour has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 22 points or more this season.
Indrit Peraj was his usual excellent self, shooting 6-for-11 from long range and dropping a double-double on 41 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jaquan Ellis, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Even though Woodland Regional has not done well against Wolcott recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Woodland Regional came out on top against Wolcott by a score of 63-52.
Woodland Regional's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Stepputtis, who dropped a double-double on ten rebounds and ten assists. Stepputtis hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of John Napiello, who scored 15 points.
Seymour now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Woodland Regional, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.
Wednesday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Seymour have been dynamite from deep this season, having nailed 45% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Woodland Regional struggles in that department as they've nailed 37.3% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went Seymour's way against Woodland Regional in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as Seymour made off with a 77-52 victory. Will Seymour repeat their success, or does Woodland Regional have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
