Arrowhead is 9-1 against Waukesha West since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Warhawks will head out to take on the Wolverines at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Arrowhead barely beat Mukwonago the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warhawks were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Indians on Tuesday. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Meanwhile, Waukesha West came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Blackshirts 25-1. The Wolverines' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Lauren Walters was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, Waukesha West got a massive performance out of Payton Hisel, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 3-for-4. Those four runs gave Hisel a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Kahle, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs.
Waukesha West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waukesha South only posted an OBP of .118.
Arrowhead pushed their record up to 17-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Waukesha West, their record is now 14-8.
Arrowhead beat Waukesha West 4-0 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warhawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
