The Coastal Christian Centurions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 57-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cary Christian. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Coastal Christian in their matchups with Cary Christian: they've now lost five in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Coastal Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aidan Davies. Despite the final result, he scored 26 points. That was a full 56.5% of Coastal Christian's points, marking the eighth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Holden Martin, who scored 11 points.
Cary Christian was led to victory by Gideon Landry and Andrew Neal. Landry scored 17 points along with eight rebounds, while Neal scored 26 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was David Wisniewski jr., who scored nine points.
Coastal Christian's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 9-10. As for Cary Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.
Coastal Christian on the road again on Saturday and play against South Mecklenburg at 6:00 p.m. on January 13th. South Mecklenburg presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Coastal Christian in North Carolina (South Mecklenburg is ranked 28th, while Coastal Christian is ranked 251st). As for Cary Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge Wake Christian Academy at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
