Tri-Valley has gone 6-1 against Heyworth recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Vikings will head out to take on the Hornets at 4:30 p.m. Tri-Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
While Tri-Valley's win against Lexington wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Vikings sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Minutemen on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted since March 29th.
The team relied heavily on Cade Danko, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024. Ethan Moore was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Tri-Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Heyworth entered their tilt with El Paso-Gridley on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Titans by a score of 10-6.
Maddox Klawitter was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Heyworth: the team is 8-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Braydon Laesch, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Tri-Valley's record now sits at 11-3-1. As for Heyworth, their record is now 13-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Tri-Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Heyworth struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Tri-Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Heyworth when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
