The Red Bluff Spartans and the Foothill Cougars squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly the Red Bluff Spartans had to settle for second. Red Bluff might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 17-14 to Foothill, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Red Bluff's defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Red Bluff lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jose (chacho) Chavez. Despite the final result, he rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Chavez hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games. Lucas Owens made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Red Bluff has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Foothill, they pushed their record up to 6-5 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Red Bluff does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Foothill will square off against Chico at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Chico will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
