Baseball Game Preview: Henley Hornets vs. Mazama Vikings

For the second straight game, Henley will face off against Mazama. The Hornets will be playing at home against the Vikings at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Henley is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 15 games.

Henley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Mazama with a sharp 19-2 victory on Wednesday. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.

Hayden Poore looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

At the plate, Conner Shively and Beau Pyle did most of the damage at the plate: Shively went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and three RBI, while Pyle went 4-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four runs gave Shively a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Porter Frost, who earned four runs and one stolen base.

Henley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mazama only posted an OBP of .261.

Henley's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-2-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Mazama, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Mazama's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Henley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .362.
