The Pioneer Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Christopher Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Christopher took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Pioneer, who comes in off a win.
Pioneer is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by an 18-6 margin over Evergreen Valley on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Pioneer got a massive performance out of Vanessa Dela Cerda, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave Dela Cerda a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Najla Crnogorcevic, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pioneer kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Christopher fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Silver Creek on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 5-3. Cougars fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Raiders since Thursday.
Katelyn Vega spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Audrina Cabanlit was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Wilson, who went 3-for-4 with one triple and one stolen base.
Pioneer pushed their record up to 6-11 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Christopher, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pioneer hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. However, it's not like Christopher struggles in that department as they've averaged .368. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pioneer suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Christopher in their previous matchup on Tuesday. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
