The Crisp Academy Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 54-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. George's. Crisp Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as St. George's apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Despite the loss, Crisp Academy had strong showings from Reese Reed, who scored 15 points, and Wilk Stephens, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. The matchup was Reed's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tucker Ellenberg, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
Crisp Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for St. George's, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crisp Academy and Central Georgia Arts will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Central Georgia Arts is ranked 592nd, while Crisp Academy is ranked 575th). As for St. George's, they will head out on the road to face off against Rock Springs Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rock Springs Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully St. George's likes a good challenge.
