The Douglass Astros will take on the Stephenson Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Douglass sitting on seven straight victories and Stephenson on three.
Stephenson's offense is going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Douglass hadn't allowed a single point the last four times they've hit the field. The Astros took their contest on Thursday with ease, bagging a 31-0 win over Mt. Zion. The Astros might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 26 points or more this season.

Jecori Anderson went supernova, rushing for 162 yards and two TDs. Those two rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Zalen Green was in the mix as well, providing Douglass with two scores.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Douglass proved: they limited Mt. Zion to a paltry -1.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Andreco Griggs for the heroic effort on defense: he. Douglass' run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.75 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 5.53 on average over their last five games.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Stephenson challenged Luella on Friday. The Jaguars claimed a resounding 48-0 victory over the Lions. That 48 point margin sets a new team best for the Jaguars this season.
Stephenson's win came from a few key players Douglass will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Anthony Booker, who rushed for 205 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten carries. His longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Jayden Johnson also helped out as he racked up 112 rushing yards.
Stephenson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Marquis Brisco, Tyrell Eldridge, and Kayden Key picked up one apiece. Eldridge got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Douglass' record is now 7-2. As for Stephenson, their record now sits at 8-1.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Douglass has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 157.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Stephenson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 329.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Douglass came up short against Stephenson in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 15-9. Can the Astros avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
