It was a good run, but the Lake Fenton Blue Devils unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Clarkston by a score of 46-44. While losing is never fun, Lake Fenton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while Clarkston is ranked 17th).
Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Savannah "sj" fellenbaum, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. The contest was "sj" fellenbaum's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ella Prevost, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Clarkston found their leader in underclassman Elli Robak, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Robak has scored at least 25% of Clarkston's points. Marley Mazur was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Lake Fenton's defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-1. As for Clarkston, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.
Lake Fenton will take on Arbor Prep in a holiday battle at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at. Clarkston will be home for the holidays to greet L'Anse Creuse North at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
