2A Greater St. Helens recap Sept. 26, 2012
Mark Morris moved up to 91 from 156 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A Greater St. Helens. The Monarchs climbed the ranks as a result of a 28-7 win over Prairie.
Washougal was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in the league. The Panthers vanquished Clatskanie 42-26 earlier in the week.
Ridgefield's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Gunnar Long threw for 92 yards and Clayton Farr had 41 yards receiving. On the ground Farr chipped in 60 yards. Matt Cushwa helped Ridgefield's passing attack out by catching two balls for 27 yards.
Ridgefield's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Spudders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Long has thrown for 579 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Sam Gillenwater has nine catches for 299 yards. Farr leads the league in rushing with 263 yards.
A big matchup in 2A Greater St. Helens this week will be when the Spudders take on Hockinson. As it stands, Ridgefield is in second, while the Hawks are in fourth.
Dan Andersen's team took down Hudson's Bay 56-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Farr in the win.
